Cockroaches
Cockroaches are disease carriers, spreading E. coli, gastroenteritis, and salmonella across surfaces and contaminating food and water supplies. These insects can cause harm to both humans and livestock, if you spot even one, you must take action. In the UK the two primary species of cockroaches encountered are the German & the Oriental cockroach. German cockroaches usually are smaller, approximately 15mm in length, with slimmer bodies displaying a brown-red coloration. Oriental cockroaches are larger, typically reaching about 20mm in length, they have flatter and rounder bodies, with a black, shiny exterior. Both German and Oriental cockroaches thrive in warm, dark environments. However, Oriental cockroaches show a particular preference for damp places, making them more likely to be found near sources of water.
